Congrats to all (me too!) Boston Finishers, she was a hot one. The Pitter Patter went off without a hitch, results up by next week(sorry). High level athlete and Ironman Kevin Beatty is hosting Learn to Run Clinics in Belleville info HERE. May 5th is the date for the Ken Sykes 5k Walk/Run, details HERE. T-Shirt deadline is approaching for the Spring Thaw, get your registrations in soon! Picton Kids of Steel is scheduled for Sunday June 3/12 at the PE Fitness and Aquatic Centre. They are looking for participants and volunteers, details HERE.

Well, I finally have the results for the Fall Classic. I’m glad I don’t have them hanging over my head this weekend as we’re off to NYC. I’ve been hearing some scuttlebutt about a Christmas Run, sounds good to me. I’ll post what comes up. Results

Well the Fall Classic has come and gone. It was a fine race. Our numbers were not huge (50), but those that ran were appreciative of the course and the event. Thanks to all volunteers and to the Adventure Class of Queen Vic for a great day. Thanks to the Ramada Inn for the use of there property and facilities. Results up later this week. Hey all, what a delightful evening we had last night. The Corn Bore was a hit, we had about 50 people hangin’ out eating good food including possibly the best corn in the world ( thanks Clifford). Special thanks t0 Shirley for the prep, and Bill as our Master Chef.
Saturday August 27th is RUNALULU, 5 km fundraiser at Zwick’s Pavillion, 11:00 am, with a kid’s run at 10:00am. The cost is $25 per person, live music by the REMEDY. The fundraiser is for the children of Brad Chambers, a Belleville native, who perished in a bush plane accident earlier this year in the Yukon.

Final Canada Day results HERE. Corn Bore 5km fun run slated for Wednesday August 17/11, 6:00pm. Place: Pergola at Zwicks’s Park East. No bibs, timing, results, or marshalls. What we will have is hotdogs, sausages fresh local corn, big stories and fun. Cost $5.00 a head, $20 for a family.

Thanks to all for an incredible Canada Day Run. 196 of you in the 5km, plus all the 1km runners and walkers. What a great way to celebrate our great Country. Special thanks to Shirley, Sheryl, Jennifer, Kathy for handling the crush at registration. Which reminds me, haven’t any of you heard of pre-registering? Just kidding, glad to have all of you. Big thanks to Mike and Carl who made it possible for yours truly to run. Many more of you were there to help, like the Brain Injury Group. On behalf of the runners I thank you all. Canada Day is fast approaching. Register now for our most fun 5km and show your colours. There is no timing, medals or fee for the 1km family fun run. The event takes place a Zwick’s Island Park, just west of the Bay Bridge.
We will have new 2011 Canada Day technical T’s on sale at the race for $15.

A big thanks to all of you who attended the AGM Wednesday night. There was lots of good discussion, and some great ideas put forth. We collected email addresses from all who attended, if anyone else would like to be on the list, please forward your contact info to me.
On a sad note we have lost one of our long term runners, John Bateman. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Maribeth and family.

Some winter racing is afoot! The Freezin’ 5k returns February 26th 10:00am, Riverfront Trail behind Bren’s Bakeshop 394 Front St, Downtown.
Details will be posted shortly. Damon Allen is bringing back the Sears National 5km Run /Walk March 20, Bayshore Herchimer Parking Lot.

There will be a general meeting of the Belleville Runners’ Club Wednesday, February 2/11
7:30 PM at the Belleville Club 210 Pinnacle St. This meeting is open to all and there is no charge
to attend. This will be an opportunity for all to get together and discuss the direction and purpose of the club.

Fall Classic has come and gone, thanks to the 38 of you that showed up for a perfect running day., and thanks to the Adventure Class families and all other volunteers for their help.
I am concerned about the low attendance this year, especially after near record crowds at the Canada Day Dash and the Spring Thaw. I am looking for input from the running community
as too why the turnout was so small, and what we can do to make it better next year. please drop me a line.

A few news tidbits;
I will have the Canada Day Dash 5km results posted soon, sorry for the delay.
Summer Running would not be the same without the Corn Bore 5km. What is the Corn Bore, you might ask?
Well, Thursday, August 12, at 6:00pm we meet at Meyers Pier, pay $5.00 a head, run to Herchimer Boat Launch and back.
We then dine on dogs, sausages and fresh local corn. This will be our 10th? year of this foolishness and invite you and your family to share in the fun.
Tri and Run are having a race August 15, 4 and 8 km, run your age corrected race.
